What is PechaKucha?
PechaKucha (Japanese for chit-chat) is a simple storytelling format where presenters are invited to show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The images advance automatically on a timer and you talk along to the images. There is no option to ‘pause’ or ‘go back’ – you have a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds to present!
PechaKucha Nights have been held in more than 1,142 cities worldwide with more than 3 million people attending. We are thrilled to bring them to Colwyn Bay.
Used most recently at Northern Eye Festival and Oriel Colwyn, we look forward to now bringing regular PechaKucha Nights to Colwyn Bay for the creative industry sector throughout 2020 – a perfectly named year for this fabulous ’20 images x 20 seconds’ format!
In a nutshell, it’s a social… combined with a great way to meet other creatives, share work, knowledge, ideas and passions, whilst opening up new dialogues and connections.
Tickets are free of charge but must be booked via Eventbrite here
We would also like to invite individuals to present!
The theme for the this session is ‘We Are… Creative’. We can give you the tools to create the presentation (or create the presentation for you) all you need is 20 images/slides to help you tell your story and an eagerness to talk about and present your work!
If that sounds like you and you’re up for the challenge, please email Paul Sampson directly at curator@orielcolwyn.org to apply and tell us a little about the work you would like to present.
